Hydraulic Capacity of Bend Manholes for Supercritical Flow

نویسندگان

چکیده

Sewer bend manholes are frequent elements of urban drainage systems. Any deviation straight-lined supercritical flow, as within the manhole, generates shock waves, possibly impinging at manhole end or imposing a hydraulic jump. Then free-surface flow regime abruptly breaks down and backwater effects occur. Thus it is important to know maximum discharge that safely can pass across function its geometry, without generating collapsing flow. This study conducted calibrated numerical simulations assess features with variable deflection angles, curvature radii, lengths straight downstream extension elements. The model was validated previously data from analogous physical tests documented in literature. combined simulation indicated capacity for different geometrical setups. It demonstrated increases increased radii lengths, whereas effect angle less significant. A multiple regression technique provided an empirical equation indicating normalized governing parameters, along approach filling ratio.

Report Cards for Manholes

We present a manhole profiling tool, developed as part of the Columbia/Con Edison machine learning project on manhole event prediction, and discuss its role in evaluating our machine learning model in three important ways: elimination of outliers, elimination of falsely predictive features, and assessment of the quality of the model. The model produces a ranked list of tens of thousands of manh...

A pulsatile developing flow in a bend

Low frequency pulsatile flow of an incompressible viscous fluid has been numerically investigated in a rigid 90° bend of circular cross-section, using the finite-volume method. The governing parameters are as follows : amplitude ratio of 1.25, Womersley

An Improved Methodology for Measurement of Uninterrupted – Flow Capacity Affected by Pavement Condition

The present Serviceability Rating (PSR) is one of the major criteria in selecting road for rehabilitation. In this paper, statistically realistic models for are developed PSR and free speed correlation on uninterrupted flow facilities. Then, the previously developed relations between free speed and capacity are used to determine the effect of pavement condition on flow capacity. Two nearly iden...
